Jitterbugz Carlton is a musical playgroup for all children aged 0-5 years and their parents or caregivers. We meet on Wednesday mornings during term time at St James’ Church (corner of Henry and Percival Streets, Carlton).
What happens during the morning?
9:50am: Sign in begins in the church building
10:00am: Short games session for children (3+), run by leaders
10:15am: Music session begins (including a Bible story)
10:35am: Move over to the halls for morning tea followed by free play and craft
11:20am: Everyone helps pack away toys
During our music session we play simple musical instruments; use props such as ribbons and parachutes; do action songs and sing nursery rhymes. Caregivers participate with their children throughout this session, helping and encouraging them to join in.
During story time, we listen to a story relating to the term’s theme. Caregivers sit with their children and help them to sit quietly and listen.
During morning tea, caregivers sit with their children and together enjoy fruit from the platters.
During free-play time, there is a range of quality toys available for the children to play with, and plenty of time for the adults to have a chat. An optional craft is available for parents to help their children complete.
What to bring?
$20 per term per family (donation towards running costs)
A piece of cut-up fruit per person in the family (to be combined into fruit platters for children and adults to share)
A water bottle for your child
A willingness to participate with your child and have FUN!
Due to the popularity of the group, we may need to cap numbers soon. Please contact us if you would like to come along. You can contact the church office on 955 31840 or
