Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve had the privilege of running our popular Christianity Explained course in my lounge room. The course gives people an opportunity to read about Jesus from the Bible, to hear a clear explanation of the central claims of Christianity and to be given the chance to ask any questions.
One of the reasons I like running this course is that I get to meet people from lots of different backgrounds. Some people start the course with very little knowledge of the Bible and others seem to have a long history of involvement with churches or other religious groups.
Yet whatever their starting point, people are often surprised when they take the time to read the Bible for themselves. I find this particularly true for those who experienced something of Christianity (or another religion) in their younger days. We often see things with a different set of eyes as an adult.
Leading up to Easter, our various congregations are celebrating the good news that ‘Jesus brings’ - that Jesus brings forgiveness, hope, joy and peace.
If you are interested in finding out more about this good news, why not sign up for our next Christianity Explained course. You’ll find more details of our upcoming courses on page 2. Perhaps you too may be pleasantly surprised as you take the time to engage with Jesus as an adult.
