Mini caramel tarts, jars of clay, a removed ponytail, a removed veil, bushwalking, water fights, profiteroles, waterslides, prayer, chocolate dipped strawberries, letters of recommendation, sunshine, rock climbing, gourmet salads, a new song, trivia, 3 books of the old testament starting with M, t-shirt design, wildflowers, the first fleet and melting moments – these are just some of the highlights of our 9am weekend away!
This was a well-timed weekend for 9am, where we could spend plenty of time enjoying God’s many blessings to us - the beautiful sunshine, water and bushland, but most of all spending time in fellowship with one another. God has blessed 9am with an amazing group of fabulous people and it was so much fun to go away and spend a whole weekend together.
Thanks again to Larissa and the volunteers from our other SNAC congregations who led our children and youth programs for the weekend – from all reports everyone had a ball! Weekends like these are especially important for creating shared
memories as these young people grow up as part of God’s family.
Saturday afternoon meant time to hang out, some at the Audley Weir cafe, others crocheting, knitting, and passing on that knowledge to our younger generation, some went for a bush walk, some exercised and some crazy kids braved the waterslide in the cold! Sally organised a fantastic trivia night for us and we all had plenty of fun and laughs together.
Tony Payne took us through 2 Corinthians 3-5, and reminded us that gospel ministry involves the plain speaking of the gospel accompanied by persistent prayer. This won’t always look impressive but brings real transformation to our lives. We persevere in this kind of ministry because we are compelled by the love of Christ! We spent time in prayer for our missionaries as well as our own church’s mission.
The relatively new 9am congregation is coming together nicely; we’re learning to love and care for one another under God. Our weekend away was a great expression of that.
