Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:6-8)
The wardens and Parish Council would like to encourage all members of the church to be praying for our church’s budget situation at this time. As at the end of May we are substantially behind budget for the year ($32,989).
We are thankful to God for how he has blessed our ministry in recent times. Over the last few months we have seen more people come to Christ (and even more do Christianity Explained) than at any other point in my time here. Our Youth and Children’s ministries continue to grow. Our time of prayer in May was a great encouragement and who knows what God might do going forward! At present we are still taking steps forward. My prayer is that we will continue to raise up people to do MTS and go to Bible College in 2016. From 1 July we are re-starting Jana Koulouris one day per week to work in discipling and training young women, especially at Church in the Bank (using money saved through our longer than expected time out of the Bank!)
However, for various reasons our offertories have not risen over the last couple of years to match our growth, our present needs and our future aspirations. Unless our baseline monthly giving increases we will not be able to fund the new opportunities before us and in fact we may have to contract.
How can you help?
1) If you have not yet come on board as a regular financial supporter, it would be wonderful if you could do so. Electronic giving details are in the Weekly SNAC and giving forms are available at all our services. It is our week in week out faithful support that is the key element.
2) If you have not updated the amount of your giving in some time, perhaps now would be a good time to do so? Our treasurer reports that many people who have set up planned giving often do not adjust the amount between years; perhaps now might be a time to consider doing so.
3) If God has blessed you financially, perhaps you would consider giving a larger one-off donation to help alleviate the accumulated budget shortfall?
4) Pray for your church, that we would all have a spirit of generosity, flowing out of our faith in Christ.
