For the past week the halls at St James have been transformed into Lego Land. Each day 150 kids and their leaders have spent the mornings building Lego towers, Lego houses, Lego cars, and Lego spaceships. We made terrariums with Lego minifigures in them, pulled Lego out of slime, raced Lego cars down a giant ramp, created Lego movies on IPads and we even ate Lego morning tea! We sang, we laughed and we had a tonne of Lego fun!
Whilst in Lego Land we met God the Masterbuilder. We heard his true story from the Bible summarised into 4 Points.
On day 1 we looked at Point 1: God Loves Me
God made everything and God made us. Because he made us he loves us! And because he made us we belong to him. He is the loving boss of everything.
On day 2 we looked at Point 2: I Have Sinned
We saw that Adam and Eve sinned first. They disobeyed God’s instruction and went their own way. This wrecked God’s world and wrecked their relationship with him. But we saw that not just Adam and Eve sinned. All people have sinned.
Because of our sin we can’t be friends with God. Instead we deserve to be punished. There is nothing we can do to take away our sin by ourselves. We need someone to take away our sin. We need a ‘Special’.
On day 3 we looked at Point 3: Jesus Died For Me
We saw Isaiah’s prophecy about ‘The Special’. He said ‘All of us were like sheep that had wandered off. We had each gone our own way, but the Lord gave him the punishment we deserved. Although he is innocent, he will take the punishment
for the sins of others, so that many of them will no longer be guilty’ Jesus is ‘The Special’. Jesus came to earth to die on the cross. When Jesus died on the cross God punished him instead of us. His death took away all our sin. Now if we say sorry, God will forgive us and we can be friends with him again.
On day 4 we looked at Point 4: I Must Decide
Jesus didn’t stay dead. He rose again! Now he’s king over everything and he’s building his kingdom. If you want to be part of God’s kingdom all you have to do is talk to God. Say sorry for your sin and ask him to help you follow his instructions
It was an absolute joy and privilege to serve alongside brothers and sisters from SNAC and together watch children meet Jesus and want to be part of his kingdom.
There is much to thank God for and continue to pray for:
- Thank God that over 50% of the kids who came were new to our church community.
- Thank God that his gospel was taught clearly and many kids were encouraged to be part of God’s kingdom.
- Please pray that kids who decided to be part of God’s kingdom this week would keep trusting Jesus until he returns.
- Please pray that the connections made with new families would be followed up well.
- Please pray that God would use all that we did this week at Kids Holiday Club to bring glory to him!
