Last Wednesday at Carlton and this Thursday at Bexley North we had our annual Christmas Scripture Assemblies. Kids squeezed in to the school halls buzzing with excitement!
This year Big Red was back! Sarah had some good news for him and the kids.
Big Red began too busy to hear the good news because he was writing a letter to Santa! He wanted to get onto Santa’s ‘nice list’. He thought that Santa would be impressed with all the good things that he had done.
After posting his letter to Santa, Red wondered if God would be impressed by the good things he’d done. Sarah read from Romans 3, which tells us that no one is good. We are in trouble and we need a Saviour! After watching the Christmas story Sarah shared the Good News of Christmas: God sent his Son to be the Saviour of the world! This is the Best Good News Ever!
There was also an appearance from Memory Man. He taught us 1 John 4:1 ‘God sent his Son to be the Saviour of the World’ by replacing words in the verse with crazy sounds.
Blooper (pictured above) also made his first appearance at a Scripture Assembly after Big Red (rather rudely) pushed him down a hole. Red tried to help Blooper by putting the things that Blooper likes down the hole (chips, milk, a TV) but as usual Red wasn’t super helpful. Just like us, Blooper couldn’t help himself. He needed a saviour. In the end it was Sarah and the kids who managed to pull him out of the hole.
Both assemblies were received well by students and teachers! Please thank God for this wonderful opportunity to remind SRE kids of the Good News at Christmas. Please be praying that teachers, students and their families might remember this Good News this Christmas and grow to love Jesus more.
