Kids Plus is our mid-week children’s ministry that runs each week on Wednesday afternoon at Carlton and Thursday afternoon at Bexley North. It’s encouraging to see so many kids from SNAC and from our local community come along to hear the good news of Jesus and have a great time eating, playing games and getting involved in many other activities.
This week at Carlton was our Christmas celebration and concert. Each year group was given the task of recapping what we had learnt in each term of Kids Plus this year.
The first presentation by year 3 was interrupted by the appearance of Professor Potion. The amazing Professor had invented a way of answering any question (which involved the eating of paper!) While the Professor’s invention was a failure, we saw that God has given us the answers we need in the Bible.
The second group to present was Triple 1 (Yr 4-6) who had produced a video recapping God’s big rescue plan. Starting right back with creation, the video showed how Jesus fulfilled all of God’s promises.
The third group to present was Year 2. They performed a skit that showed how the Christian life is like a race. As those on team Jesus, we look forward to the crown of life. However, we face many obstacles along the way and so need to be committed to God’s training program of Bible reading, prayer and fellowship.
The fourth and final group to present was Kindergarten and year 1 who together were covering our MasterChef theme in term 4. In each week of term 4, kids prepared, cooked and served various items of food in their teams which connected to the Christmas story. Our celebrity judges then scored each team with the winner taking the much coveted Kids Plus Carlton trophy. After watching a recap video, the K-1 kids performed the Colin Buchanan song called ‘Super Chef’.
Kids Plus at Bexley North finished with a bang on Thursday. First there was a scavenger hunt which involved activities that reflected various aspects of what the kids had learnt about Jesus. Amid much excitement and anticipation, the major prize was then awarded to the best MasterChef team at Bexley North. The evening finished with a family BBQ dinner together where many conversations were had and relationships strengthened.
It was such an encouragement to see so many local families take part in both of these events. Please give thanks to God for Kids Plus and the teams of faithful leaders who serve each week.
