Term 2 is fast drawing to a close and the Youth Ministry team is already well and truly in planning for Term 3. Term 3 is always jam-packed with action, and this year is no exception.
For your prayers and information, I thought I’d provide a bit of a snapshot of some of the important things to note.
Meeting at Bexley North for Term 3
Due to the building works at St James’ over Terms 3 and 4, FUEL and Ignite will be meeting together at our Bexley North site from Term 3.
Here are the details:
Time: 7:00-9:15pm (unchanged)
Dates: Term 3 – Friday 21/7 through to Friday 22/9, Term 4 – Friday 13/10 through to Friday 15/12
Location: Bexley North Anglican Church, Carrisbrook Ave, Bexley North
Parent Event - The Frank Chat: Educating Young People, Parents and the Community about the Harms of Pornography.
4 August @ St James’ Carlton - 7:15pm for 7:30pm start, finish at 9pm.
To help support and equip our youth to deal with the real dangers of internet pornography, we’ve asked James Grady not only to speak to our youth but also to parents. James is a minister and High School teacher in Sydney. Let me strongly encourage every parent to come and take part in our parent event. This event is also open to any parents at SNAC even if your kids are not yet teenagers (if your child uses the internet then this will be relevant to you).
NOTE: this will be a parent only event – Fuel and Ignite will be running as normal at Bexley North. Please RSVP to Brendan Moar if you would like child minding for your younger children so that we can plan appropriate supervision at St James’.
Youth Event - Sam Allberry Event: Is God Anti Gay?
18 August @ Bexley North Anglican Church - 7:00-9:15pm
Liberty Christian Ministries is running this event for youth across Sydney (and beyond!). They have invited English Evangelical minister Sam Allberry to speak on same-sex-attraction and what teenagers can do both to get support and be a support to others in this area. Sam is the author of an excellent short book Is God Anti Gay? We will be live-streaming this event to our Bexley North site through the wonders of modern technology.
Youth Event - The Frank Chat: Educating Young People, Parents and the Community about the Harms of Pornography.
25 August @ Bexley North Anglican Church - 7:00-9:15pm.
James will present an interactive seminar for around an hour, with time for questions afterwards. The content will be similar to the parent event on 4 August. One focus will be on how teens can speak to their leaders, parents and peers to about issues in this area.
Year Six Socials
Social 1: 28 July @ St James’ Carlton - 7:00-8:45pm
Social 2: 8 September @ St James’ Calrton - 7:00-8:45pm
Every year we welcome Year Six into the youth ministry in Term 4. As part of the transition process, we invite them to attend two social events in Term 3. These events are open to anyone in Year Six who is interested in attending FUEL in Term 4. Please pray that this transition would be smooth for our current Year Sixers, and would help them introduce their friends to FUEL.
FIT Camp - Thursday 5 – Sunday 8 October
More information will come early in Term 3 when registrations open, but for now please remember to book in the dates. Please pray for our leaders as they prepare and for Tom Pollett as he writes the talks.
Thanks for your prayers and support!
